No Sound on IOS 7.1, iPad Air, version 1.6.6

I just updated to version 1.6.6. I have NO SOUND on either previously downloaded or newly streamed content. I continue to get an error when ever I try to download content. It tells me to check my internet connection. I have download all videos from the web site and created a video play list in iTunes to get content on my iPad. Looking for suggestions. thanks
